Final updates for this Sunday

Last reminder for this Sunday's BBQ and fun ride!

Hey everybody,

Just sending out one last reminder to sign up for the Laurelwood Block Party and Fun Ride this Sunday, May 24th, from 12 pm to 5 pm. A few updates:

-We have booked a great local band, Nickel Arcade, to entertain us while we soak up the sun! Check them out at www.myspace.com/nickelarcadesucks

-For those looking for a shorter ride, a modified route of about 8- 10 miles will be offered

-Many great giveaways from some of the team sponsors, plus a silent auction for an Orbea jersey autographed by Olympic gold medalist Sammy Sanchez!

-Dr. Craig Nichols, who successfully treated Lance Armstrong during his battle with testicular cancer, will be on hand to enjoy the festivities and to say a few words.

-The forecast calls for 83 degrees and sunny on Sunday--what better way to enjoy the beautiful day than with a bike ride and BBQ?

Special thanks to the Ironclad Cycling team, who's ride to fight hunger is stopping by Laurelwood Brewery on Sunday. Please bring a can or two of food if you can to help say thanks to them, and check out www.ironcladcycling.com for details of their ride.

Come enjoy everything the afternoon has to offer while supporting the fight against cancer!

Please take the time to sign up at:

Laurelwood Brewery Block Party!

The team's annual Lance Armstrong Foundation fun-draiser will place an emphasis on "fun". With the Livestrong Challenge moving up to our neighbors in Seattle, this will be one of the only chances to support cancer prevention and survivorship by riding a bike in Portland. Of course, that's only the beginning...think BBQ, award winning beer (my favorite is the Workhorse IPA), live music, prizes, and some of the most scenic views of Portland. All in one afternoon, all for a great cause!

Who:
Team Land Rover-Orbea is partnering with one of our great sponsors, Laurelwood Brewing Co., to put on this great event.

When:
Sunday May 24th, 12 pm to 5 pm(ish)

Where:
Laurelwood Brewery & Public House
5115 NE Sandy Blvd.
Portland, OR 97213

How:
Pay $20 (a little more if you register online). Show up. Have fun.

Register online
or send a check for $20 and a waiver (or more if you want to donate!)
Payable to Land Rover-Orbea
c/o Eric Tsai
6406 NE Garfield Ave
Portland OR 97211

What:
Ride. BBQ. Beer. Music. Prizes. Fun.

All proceeds will go to the Lance Armstrong Foundation. We will also be using this event to raise money to send a cancer survivor to participate in the Livestrong Challenge in Seattle.

What else:
Meet and ride with members of Portland's own Land Rover-Orbea professional cycling team. They will be on hand to participate in the ride, meet everyone, shake hands, sign autographs, flex their quads, and enjoy the festivities.

John Ohnstead, a LAF regional mentor, will be on hand to answer any questions on how YOU can become more involved with the LAF.

Don't forget your helmet! See you there!

Sam Dimas/Redlands photo retrospective

It was good to see an Oregon sunset. SoCal sunsets are quite different with all the smog.

Dirty old men

Aaron says he is turning into a sprinter... Little does he know that
Dean (our real sprinter) eats climbers like Aaron for lunch! Watch out
Aaron.

Other than that Aaron and Evan had a good showing with a 2nd and a 7th
place in the grit and grime. Eric, Norrene, and myself... well we have some work to do.

Now it's time to clean the bikes!

Tour of California through day 3

Is it the 3rd day? what day is it? were we in Modesto now or San Jose or still in Santa Cruze? How many people do we have today? wait, is it today or tomorrow?

So the trip goes like this: up at 6:00, make coffee, either make some pancakes or get the conti. breakfast at the hotel, load up the bikes on the LR3, and head to the finish expo. We have the bike stands and tent in the LR3 so we park at our sight and put up the tent. The bikes come out of the orbea van and go in the stands where they are locked up.

Now that we have our place lined up, we look for a warm and dry coffee shop to hang out some.

Once the people start showing up we hang out and chat with some great people until the race comes to town. The LR3 looking pretty good at day one of the TOC.
It's great when we get people that have Orbea bikes already. They stop by and tell us all about their bikes. There are some great fans out there!

Getting set up in the expo

Soon to be inundated with thousands of crazy fans!

Btw. Yah, the LR3 has the ride hight adjustment. In this pic it is on
low setting which makes getting the bikes much easier.

Just switch to ice and snow

.... And mo problems.

Tour of California

Evan and I left for the tour of California Friday am. It was an pretty
uneventfull trip thanks to the Rover's sure hamdeling!
